Privacy Policy
Effective updated: August 05, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Kinnect. We are committed to protecting the privacy of veterinary professionals, external collaborators, and the sensitive clinical and referral information entrusted to our platform.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard information when you use Kinnect on the web or through our mobile application. By using Kinnect, you acknowledge this policy.
Information We Collect
To operate Kinnect, we collect the following categories of information:
Personal Information
Account and profile details such as name, email address, phone number, clinic or practice affiliation, role, and login credentials.
Clinical & Referral Data
Information submitted through referrals and collaboration workflows, including patient and owner details, clinical notes, attachments, messages, and related status updates.
Usage & Technical Data
Device and session information needed for performance and security, including IP address, browser or app identifiers, push notification tokens, and usage metrics across web and mobile.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
Provide and maintain Kinnect accounts, authentication, and permissions.
Enable referrals, messaging, channels, webinars, recordings, and calls.
Send service communications, including email, in-app, push, and SMS alerts.
Improve reliability, security, and user experience.
Comply with legal obligations and respond to support or deletion requests.
Communications & SMS (Twilio)
Kinnect may send transactional and operational SMS messages using Twilio, including account, referral, messaging, and call-related alerts. Phone numbers you provide may be processed by Twilio as our messaging provider.
Message frequency varies based on your activity and notification settings. Message and data rates may apply. We do not sell SMS consent. You may contact support@kin.vet for help managing notification preferences or account-related SMS concerns.
Mobile Application
Our mobile app offers the same core Kinnect functionality as the web platform, subject to device capabilities. The app may request permissions needed for notifications, camera or microphone (for calls), photo library or file access (for attachments), and related features.
We may use deep links and push notifications to open relevant screens and deliver timely updates. You can manage many permissions in your device settings.
App License & Consent (EULA Policies)
App License & Consent
By downloading or using the Kinnect App, you agree that your use of the App is governed by the Terms of Use (including any applicable EULA) and this Privacy Policy. You consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and processing of information as described in this Privacy Policy to enable the Services and App functionality.
Messaging & SMS Consent
Where applicable, Kinnect may send transactional or operational SMS messages (for example, referral and appointment-related updates) via Twilio. If SMS consent is collected during signup or the referral workflow, messages are sent only in connection with the requested service and include opt-out instructions (for example, replying STOP).
App Permissions
The App may request device permissions (such as notifications and, for call-related features, microphone/camera). You can manage these permissions in your device settings.
App Store Compliance
This section is provided to help ensure the required transparency and consent disclosures for app store guideline compliance. Continued use of the App after updates to this Privacy Policy or consent disclosures constitutes acceptance of the updated information.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell clinical data. Sharing is limited to operating the Services:
Referrals & Collaboration
Information may be shared with designated users, clinics, or consultants when you or an authorized user initiates a referral, message, channel share, webinar invite, or similar action.
Service Providers
We use trusted providers to host and operate Kinnect, including authentication, messaging (Twilio), push delivery, and related infrastructure, under appropriate contractual safeguards.
Integrations
Where integrations (such as Instinct-related workflows) are enabled, data flows only as needed for the requested clinical or operational purpose.
Data Security
While veterinary data is not always governed by human HIPAA rules in every jurisdiction, Kinnect adopts strong security practices as a baseline. This includes encrypted transport, access controls based on roles and permissions, session safeguards, and monitoring appropriate to a clinical collaboration platform.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal account information, subject to security verification and legal or record-keeping requirements. Clinical and referral records may be retained as needed for veterinary record-keeping, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
